L Scanlan

Literacy Lead

I began working at St Anne's in 2013 as a Learning Support Assistant whilst training to teach. Today I am an English teacher and Literacy Lead for St Anne’s. I love teaching English and sharing my passion for literature with the pupils, but I also believe that literacy is essential to breaking down barriers and opening up opportunities for all. I became Literacy Lead to raise academic attainment in reading, writing and oracy and to enable all pupils to access a challenging and knowledge rich curriculum. Every young person should have the belief that they can succeed and our high standards and expectations at the school contribute to each pupil achieving their goals. Having grown up in the local area, I am proud to work at St Anne's and to be part of the community. In my spare time I enjoy spending lots of time outdoors with my family and am partial to an upbeat Zumba class.

A Morgan

I joined St Anne’s as an English teacher and Head of Year in 2019 and have since become the Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator (SENCo) and a member of the Extended Leadership Team (ELT). I am passionate about teaching and learning and inclusion, both of which are essential for ensuring that pupils achieve their outcomes and leave school with the skills, knowledge, and behaviours to live enriched and fulfilled lives. Within my role, I ensure that all staff have high expectations, deliver high quality teaching within the classroom and provide appropriate support and intervention where necessary. It is a privilege to be a part of the St Anne’s community and to continuously drive the school forward whilst instilling the school’s values within each of our pupils. In my spare time, I love to read, run and travel.

Personal Development

I joined St Anne's in September 2022, as Personal Development Lead and part of the Extended Leadership Team (ELT), having previously held this role in a Salford school for 15 years. I am a Drama and Music specialist and love how the arts encourages pupils to think and act creatively whilst also giving them opportunities to develop their self-confidence and deepen their understanding of the world around them. I am passionate about developing the whole child and believe that the curriculum should extend beyond the classroom, preparing pupils for life after St Anne's so that they can be actively involved in public life as adults. I am excited to be able to develop pupils’ characters and celebrate the diversity of St Anne's whilst also joining together with a shared goal of being 'outstanding in all we do'. Outside of teaching, I am a keen performer and can be seen on stage, or off it, regularly.

Pupil Premium

I joined St Anne's in January 2023, as Lead Science Practitioner and part of the Extended Leadership Team (ELT), having previously held this role in Schools for over a decade. I am a Scientist who ensures students are given the opportunity to work alongside outside agencies and provide students from St Anne’s with a portfolio of life experiences that prepare them for making the correct career pathways in the future. We aim to provide an outstanding curriculum in St Anne’s, raising teaching and learning standards to be 'outstanding in all we do.' In my spare time I like to travel, and aim to visit all the wonders of the world, as well as spending time with friends and family.

A Rees

Safeguarding Lead

I have worked at St Annes for just over two years. Prior to this, I have worked with young people and their families for over ten years including being a Head of Year. I studied Child Protection at University of Central Lancashire and have always been very passionate about wanting a career in safeguarding children and supporting their families. Today I am the Safeguarding Lead, overseeing the wellbeing and safety of all our pupils at St Annes. I strongly believe that every child, regardless of background or ability, should have access to education, and have ambitious future goals. I am passionate about helping them overcome barriers and watch them grow and develop to achieve them. I want our pupils to feel safe and happy at St Anne’s. In my spare time I like to cook, travel, and spend time with my friends and family.

I came to work at St Anne’s in June 2021 as a non-teaching Head of Year and I am now a member of the Extended Leadership Team [ELT] with responsibility for pastoral care. Previously I worked with young people and families as a youth worker and crisis manager for several years in inner city London, supporting families with complex pastoral needs. Within my role at St Anne’s, I am responsible for the day-to-day pastoral care of many pupils, ensuring their pastoral needs are met and they are able to engage effectively with their education. I am passionate about enabling pupils at St Anne’s to achieve their full potential and overcome barriers. In my spare time I enjoy reading, water skiing and the Eurovision Song Contest!

A Baird

Pastoral Lead

I joined the St Anne's family in September 2019 and have seen the school, our staff and most significantly the pupils grow each day since then. Our pupils have developed in personal presentation, in attitude and behaviour and most importantly in academic attainment. I am an English teacher who believes in high expectations and standards and as lead on Behaviour and Standards across the school, it is my responsibility to continually drive and maintain outstanding expectations across St Anne’s. We will achieve this through being consistent role models for our pupils. I am unapologetically passionate about standards and will be utterly relentless in achieving this. Outside of St Anne’s I am a devoted Man Utd fan and take every opportunity I can do catch up with my friends and family.

Behaviour and Standards

I joined St Anne’s as an RE teacher in 2016 and became Head of RE in 2020. From September 2022 I will lead on the Catholic life of the school as part of the Extended Leadership Team [ELT]. I am highly ambitious for all our pupils and my mantra is ‘Love your learning, Do your best, Expect to do well’. As a Catholic school we want the best for our pupils, personally, spiritually, and academically. Our ethos is based on our 6 SACRED Values: Service, Ambition, Compassion, Respect, Equality and Determination. I am totally committed to living and developing these SACRED Values as a learning community day in and day out in all that we do. Outside of St. Anne’s I enjoy finding new beauty spots to appreciate the peace and quiet of a bracing country walk.
